  15. The Brother HL-8e may need a firmware update to correctly print
  16. TrueType fonts from Windows NT. Problems may include dropped or
  17. garbled characters when printing TrueType fonts.
  18.  
  19. According to Brother's technical support, if the printer firmware is
  20. dated earlier than 8/92, it should be updated to a version dated at
  21. least 8/24/92 to correct known problems with TrueType fonts.

  23. Use the following procedure to determine the firmware revision of your
  24. printer:
  25.  
  26. 1. Power off the printer.
  27.  
  28. 2. Holding the Fonts button down, power up the printer.
  29.  
  30. 3. While still holding the Fonts button, wait until the power up
  31.    sequence is completed, then the firmware version will be displayed.
